Jeep
Jeep is a brand and a division of FCA US LLC (formerly Chrysler Group, LLC), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. Jeep has been a part of Chrysler since 1987, but the brand is much older than this. In 1945, Willys-Overland commenced production of the first Civilian Jeep (CJ) branded models.
The most famous of the Jeep models is arguably the Jeep Wrangler; a vehicle introduced in 1986 as a 1987 model. With its solid axles and open top, the Wrangler – which is still in production – has become essential to the Jeep brand.
In 2016, Jeep sold 1.4 million SUVs globally and two-thirds of them were purchased by buyers in North America. There is currently over 2400 dealships in the United States that hold franchise rights to sell Jeep-branded vehicles. Data from the first half of 2017 show that Jeep was Chrysler’s best selling brand in the U.S. for that period.
